DaD

20 abr

Probably, after you read the title of this post, the first thing that came into your mind is:  What is Dad?

Dad means: Digital Assets Deployment… It is a company which has a wide number of investments in startups. They have not only the money to invest in different projects but also the knowledge about how they can let grow your business idea. Rodolfo Carpintier is the owner and as he said, 95% of the people they say they are smart money, they are not.  You need to think about the importance of get the right investors because you need not only money but also the knowledge and expertise.

He made the conference totally different than the others. After a short introduction, he gave us two options, tell him a personal project and talk about it from his point of view or invent a new one. Parisa Louie, who is one of the IE students, offered herself. It was very interesting to see Rodolfo giving his opinion about Parisa´s project. I really believe it was very useful for her and also for the rest of the class, because we had the opportunity to see how an investor thinks.

They are investing in between 6 and 8 projects every year. Although you can think that only a few projects can be profitable or have the chance to be chosen, he wanted to differenciate between

Investment Product vs Viable Project

So basically, you can have a good idea but not necessary needs to be an investment product.

Going to some points he extracted from the Parisa`s Case, there is a huge difference between a business focused on B2B or B2C, therefore you need to decide which type of business you want to be and select your employees based on it. Obviously, if you are a big company with a lot of resources, you can have two different businesses within your company and be focus in both, B2B and B2C, but because we are talking about StartUps with low resources, this is something to consider from the very begining.

These are the ideas I have caught from this last session. It has been a privilege to share all these moments with Enrique Dans and of course the rest of my classmates. Despite I do not still have a business idea in my mind, I wish I have my own business in the future, therefore I would use all this knowledge.

Thank you very much all of you and keep in touch.

Kind Regards.
